Even municipal water can be contaminated. Flowing water can also pick up contaminants from pipes. If you use water from a private source like a well, you are at even greater risk for having unwanted things in your water.
Contaminants can be biological like protozoa, bacteria, and viruses; unwanted natural substances like radon; plus chemicals or pesticides.
Water filters to remove contaminants may be built into pitchers, faucet mounted, countertop mounted, mounted under a sink, built into a refrigerator, or attached to the house’s water line. No single filter can remove every unwanted contaminant. A water filtration system uses a series of multiple filters, with each having its own speciality.
The smaller a water filter’s pores, the more effective it is. Microfiltration filters (.1 micron) can effectively remove only remove protozoa. Ultrafiltration filters (.01 micron) can effectively remove only protozoa and bacteria. Nanofiltration filters (.001 micron) can remove protozoa, bacteria, and viruses, but only some chemicals.
Water purification uses a filtration system to remove particles, and a reverse osmosis system to remove dissolved minerals.

Called Paul on Valentine’s Day, today, Sunday, 2/14/21. They were very responsive. They were helpful and friendly. I was charged only $345 and it was a pretty complicated job with wall cutting required. The copper pipe on hose faucet on exterior brick had busted and was leaking. Had to cut inside house under sink. Didn’t put the hose back as third hose on exterior for multiple reasons but primarily because we would have to remove the bathroom sink completely. A lot of plumbing parts are sold out too per this odd hard freeze with schools and roads shut down. Replace pipe and end piece. Paul was very knowledgeable and friendly by phone. He has a good team that was helpful along the way as well. Deborah did great with communicating and scheduling as well. I highly recommend them.

Paul and his employees were all terrific, I honestly can't say enough good things about them! They were on time, very communicative, upfront about everything. My situation required me to leave and go buy a new toilet and they had another appointment, but they made sure to come back to my house after that appointment and were here well into the evening (way past working hours) to ensure that everything got taken care of and handled!
